ABOUT WINDHAM CAMPBELL PRIZE AND JENNIFER NANSUBUGA MAKUMBI
The prize was started by novelist and memoirist Donald Windham in memory of his partner of 40 years, Sandy M Campbell, in 2013.
Makumbi becomes one of the over 50 beneficiaries since 2013.
Nomination and judging for the prize are done confidentially.
Makumbi’s Let’s Tell This Story Properly won the 2014 Commonwealth Short Story Prize.
Her debut novel Kintu won the Kwani? Manuscript Project Award in 2013.
Makumbi’s Love Made in Manchester collection will be released in January 2019.
She holds a PhD in African Literature from Lancaster University.
and has taught creative writing at colleges and universities around the United Kingdom.
