Probe into Russia’s Hand in US Elections: Trump Sides with Putin
Trump: Putin's Denial of Russia's Meddling 'Extremely Strong and Powerful'
US President Donald Trump has sided with Russia in regard to suspected interference in the 2016 presidential election as the two heads of state met in Finland.
Trump and Putin met in Helsinki on Monday.
The two leaders held face-to-face talks.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin, once again denied his country had interfered in the election.
Even as the FBI is convinced of Russia’s role, Trump agreed with Putin.
“President Putin says it’s not Russia,” said Trump when tasked to pick whom he believed between Putin’s Russia and US intelligence on reports of meddling in the 2016 poll.
“I don’t see any reason why it should be.”
Trump defined Putin’s denial of suspected Russian meddling in the election as “extremely strong and powerful”.
