GENESIS OF IGARA EAST BY-ELECTION
Martial lost a petition filed by Mawanda.
Court ordered a reelection.
Martial had defeated Mawanda in the NRM primaries of 2015. Mawanda contested as an independent and lost but ran to court, citing irregularities.
Days before the court ruling, Martial had opposed age limit removal.
The age limit removal bid is a move that seeks to remove the presidential age limit to allow three-decade president run beyond the age of 75.
A bill to lift the age limit was moved by Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi.
