Museveni told the team he was a follow of the Commonwealth games, having picked interest in the games in 1954.
“I began following the Commonwealth Games in 1954 hosted by the city of Melbourne,” recalled Museveni.
“I was in primary school but remember seeing the beautiful pictures coming from the games.”
Museveni continued: “One of the earliest pictures was of a high jumper called Patrick Etolu, who was a policeman.”

But Sejusa wondered how Museveni accessed either videos or photos from the 1954 Commonwealth Games.
Sejusa reminded Museveni that the first radio broadcasting in Uganda had started 1952 while Television broadcasting began 1963.
“Even then, I imagine [it was only] in the Governor’s house at Entebbe!”
He further reminded the president that the first newspaper, Munno, a Catholic publication had started in 1911 but had reached Nyamitanga Parish,Mbarara in 1956.
“Now TVs or newspapers in Kyamate in 1954?” wondered Sejusa.
