Patrick Amuriat Oboi aka POA has taken oath as Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) new president ending Mugisha Muntu’s five-year reign.

The swearing in ceremony happened at FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi along Entebbe Road on Friday.

FDC is Uganda’s largest opposition political party.

Last week, the party voted in Amuriat at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Muntu, who Wednesday said he would not quit FDC, attended Amuriat’s inauguration, and handed over office.

Other guests included former party president Dr Kizza Besigye who backed Amuriat against Muntu.

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, and former DP president Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere also attended.

FDC secretary general Nandala Mafabi welcomed Amuriat and his wife at Najjanankumbi.

Later, FDC lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuzi guided Amuriat in taking the oath.

Amuriat then sealed the oath with his signature on documents as required by the party’s constitution.

Buhweju County MP Francis Mwijukye also took oath as FDC Deputy Treasury General. He committed to give the party Shs1m every month.
