Papa Were Salim is a fourth year student of Veterinary Medicine.

He beat 14 other candidates.

Last year, Papa Were Salim carried  a mattress and attempted to camp at Uganda’s parliament premises in protest of the presidential age limit removal plot.

But police arrested Papa Were Salim.

And 317 MPs voted to remove age limit in December 2017.

Papa Were Salim is now the 84 guild president replacing FDC’s Paul Kato.

RESULTS: PAPA WERE SALIM ELECTED 84TH MAKERERE GUILD PRESIDENT

Makerere Electoral commission Chairperson Isaac Kenneth Isabirye announced Papa Were Salim  winner Wednesday evening.

  • Papa Were Salim: 3,202
  • Edward Kinene Semakula (UYD): 2267 votes.
  • Silver Kent Lwamaza (Independent): 1528 votes
  • Andrew Julian Taliwaku (Independent): 1380 votes
  •  Fredrick Chiluba  Narsh (FDC): 776 votes
  • Prize Marie Ahimbisibwe (NRM): 163 votes.
