RECONCILE FIGHTING SECURITY AGENCIES: WHAT MUSEVENI TOLD ELLY TUMWINE
In recent times, security agencies have openly clashed.
For example, the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) have been at loggerheads with Uganda Police.
The feud sucked in former security minister Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde and sacked police chief Gen Kale Kayihura.
Now Museveni has told Tumwine to promote unity and team work among the various security organs.
“In the security docket the main issue has been teamwork” said Museveni.
“When you work as a team you benefit from the knowledge of others. People should contribute their ideas and ensure success thereafter.”
Museveni also added: ‘People should not be shy to help each other in terms of management.”
The president further pledged government’s commitment in procuring sophisticated hardware and software for preventing and investigating crime.
“The security sector needs technology,” note Museveni. “In terms of security there is nothing that the Government cannot acquire if it is important.”
“The technological gaps must be filled so that security organs can fulfil their responsibilities.”
