Museveni: I Don’t Have Time for Sickness
Uganda’s three-decade president has said he has no time for sickness.
Museveni, 73, said he has been in power for 30 years and has not fallen sick.
He said he had lived up to 73 because of staying away from the bottle.
MUSEVENI ON ALCOHOL, AGE AND SICKNESS
“I have managed to make it to 73 years of age because I do not drink alcohol,” Museveni said during a thanksgiving ceremony for Ngora district Woman MP Jacqueline Amongin.
The ceremony happened at Ngora Bishop Kitching College Demonstration School Play Grounds in Teso Sub Region, Eastern Uganda.
“I have been here for the last 30 years and all this time you have never heard that Museveni is sick and is in hospital. I do not have time for sickness,” Museveni said.
Museveni encouraged the locals to stay away from alcohol and promiscuity, and to take proper hygiene, good nutrition, immunisation and sleeping under mosquito nets more seriously.
“After blocking diseases by immunization, if the chairman and the district health officer could promote proper hygiene, ensure proper construction of latrines and washing of hands after visiting the latrines, most of the diseases would be eliminated,” Museveni said.
“Health is wealth. When you are healthy you can do anything that you want to do.”
