Lulume Bayiga Charged, Spends Night in Luzira
Court has remanded former Buikwe South MP Dr Lulume Bayiga to Luzira following his arrest.
Rotary Club of Mukono had invited Dr Bayiga, a medical doctor, to help treat the elderly at a Rotary health camp.
Police would later arrest Bayiga and detain him at Lugazi Police Station.
LULUME BAYIGA IN COURT
On Monday, Bayiga appeared before Lugazi Grade One Magistrate’s Court.
The magistrate charged Bayiga with assault, malicious damage and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Bayiga and others on November 29, while at Kigaya Village in Najja Sub-county, Buikwe District, broke into a one Musa Katerega’s house and destroyed his property, reads the charge sheet.
Bayiga also allegedly beat up police officer Andrew Egesa during his arrest.
The former Buikwe MP denied the charges.
His lawyer, Aggrey Mushagara, sought bail for Bayiga citing his health condition.

Mr Mushagara asked court to grant his client bail to enable him get treatment because he is in poor health.
But presiding magistrate George Obong ruled that he need needed time to pore through the bail application.
Court resumes Friday.
