Kirumira Murder Anger: Embarrassment as Resty Nalinya’s Father Refuses IGP Ochola’s Shs 2 Million Condolence Cash
Resty Nalinya Mbabazi Was killed Saturday Night in Muhammad Kirumira's Car
Uganda Police on Monday endured yet another episode of embarrassment after condolence money sent to the family of Resty Nalinya Mbabazi was rejected during a funeral.
Unknown assailants Saturday evening killed Resty Nalinya Mbabazi alongside former Buyende District Police Commander (DPC) Muhammad Kirumira along Musoke Road in Bulenga, Wakiso District.
Kirumira was buried Sunday evening at Mpambire in Mpigi district where police spokesperson Emilian Kayima and his internal affairs ministry boss Gen Jeje Odongo were chased.
On Monday, Nalinya was laid to rest in Mpanga Village of Mpenja sub-county in Gomba district.
Here, the police administration sent Katonga region police commander Francis Chemusto to represent the force.
And Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martins Okoth Ochola gave Chemusto some Shs 2m as condolence for the family.
Unlike Kayima and Gen Odongo, Chemusto was not chased from the burial.
Police had footed the bill for most of the funeral ceremony after paying A Plus Funeral Services.
When Chemusto arrived, he walked to the family members side to condole with them.
He then reached for his pocked and fished out an envelope containing Shs 2m and made to hand it over to Aloysius Kayitale, Resty Nalinya Mbabazi’s father.
But Kayitale refused the money.
Sensing Kayitale’s mood, and to avoid embarrassment, Gomba Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Fred Nayebale handed President Yoweri Museveni’s Shs 5m condolence to other family members – not Resty Nalinya Mbabazi’s father.
