Kanyeihamba: There’s no Difference between Museveni and Besigye
Retired Supreme Court Judge Prof George Wilson Kanyeihamba has said Uganda’s three-decade president Yoweri Museveni and his four-time challenger Dr Kizza Besigye are the same.
Kanyeihamba has described Museveni and Besigye, both former bush war men, as arrogant and difficult to advise.
KANYEIHAMBA: MUSEVENI, BESIGYE BOTH ARROGANT
“He [Besigye] and Museveni are made from the same coin,” Kanyeihamba said during a morning show on NBS TV.
In the five-year war that brought ruling National Resistance Army (NRA) to power, Besigye played a major role as Museveni’s doctor.
Besigye would later serve in Museveni’s government but fall out with his former boss at the start of the millennium.
Since then Besigye and Museveni have faced off at the ballot, with the former losing to the latter.
“They are all arrogant and don’t take advice,” added Kanyeihamba.
Kanyeihamba was commenting on the bad blood between Besigye and former army commander Mugisha Muntu.
Last week, Besigye supported former Kumi Municipality MP Patrick Amuriat against Muntu in the race for opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president.
Besigye’s candidate Amuriat beat Muntu, denying him a second term as party president.
The Besigye camp have severally accused Muntu of being a mole for Museveni. Muntu denies spying for Museveni in the FDC.
There were also reports that Muntu would quit FDC after losing to Amuriat.
There were rumours that Muntu would join forces with ex-premier Amama Mbabazi and musician and MP Bobi Wine to form a new political party.
But on Wednesday, Muntu addressed reporters at Africana Hotel in Kampala on his next course of action.
Muntu said he would stay in FDC. He also called for talks and consultations within the party structures.
Besigye welcomed Muntu’s decision. He also praised Amuriat for his plans to hold talks with Muntu.
Last weekend, Amuriat said he would deploy Muntu in FDC structures. He also talked of forming the party’s Council of Elders and Founders.
