Military Court Sets Date for Kipoi Trial
FORMER MP KIPOI CHARGES
On Monday, a Military Court charged Kipoi and five other soldiers of scheming to topple three-decade president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s government.
According to prosecution, Kipoi convened meetings to recruit soldiers with an intention of carrying out activities to prejudice the security of the Defence Forces.
Prosecution added that Kipoi convened the meetings between November 2012 and December 2013 in Kampala, Wakiso, Masaka, Nakasongola, Fort Portal, Jinja and Ntoroko districts.
Kipoi reportedly hatched his scheme with UPDF soldiers: Sgt Albino Okeng, Sgt Yunus Lemeriga, L/Cpl Adams Mawa, L/Cpl Rogers Mweru and Pvt Saidi Dodola.
KIPOI TRIAL DATE SET
Prosecution, led by Maj Raphael Mugisha, told court they had gathered enough evidence to pin Kipoi and his co-accused.
Maj Mugisha even suggested a trial date.
“Investigations into this case are done and we pray to have a hearing date fixed,” submitted Mugisha.
“The suitable date for us is April 24 this year.”
