Moses Byamugisha, one of the four candidates in Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential race, says he will reclain Dr Kiiza Besigye 2016 victory.

Byamugisha is contesting against Mugisha Muntu, Patrick Amuriat and Dan Matsiko.

Voting happened at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, on Friday.

Moses Byamugisha is a former aide to Dr Besigye.

Besigye has lost to Uganda’s three-decade president Yoweri Museveni four times.

He has claimed his victory was rigged by Museveni.

After last year’s poll, Besigye formed a loose parallel ‘People’s Government’ to defy Museveni’s.

But some in the party opposed the defiance move.

Muntu is one of those seen as opposed to Besigye’s defiance. In fact some in FDC think he is Museveni’s mole. But Muntu has denied working for Museveni.

Speaking ahead of Friday’s election at Namboole, Byamugisha said he would move to reclaim Besigye’s victory if he was elected party boss.

“Once voted into power, I will ensure establishing a cooperating environment with the people’s government to ensure that we reclaim our 2016 presidential victory,” Byamugisha said.

He also made rooted for stronger party structures.

“It’s true party structures have been formed but most of them lack activities, I will ensure that at least one million shillings is always channeled to the grass roots to enhance activities.”

“I have a background of advocacy politics; we are motivated by the desire of putting a point across; I encourage young people to come up, I have proved that it is possible to run for presidency as a young person,” he rallied the youth.
