Bobi Wine, US Congressman Discuss Uganda’s Democracy
Bobi Wine, Barbie meet US Congressman
Kyadondo East Member of Parliament and musician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and his wife Barbara Itungo aka Barbie Kyagulanyi on Thursday met United States (US) congressman Bradley Sherman.
Sherman has been a Democratic member of the United States (US) House of Representatives for over two decades.
He now represents California’s 30th congressional district within the San Fernando Valley, in Los Angeles County and the eastern Simi Hills in Ventura County.
After the meeting, Sherman revealed that he and his guests had “underlined the importance of the democratic process as well as those who have and continue to suffer from political oppression in Uganda”.
The meeting happened after Bobi Wine and his lawyer Robert Amsterdam had held an “international” press conference in Washington DC.
During the presser, Bobi Wine reiterated his commitment to return to Uganda to push for change even when he faces treason charges over his alleged involvement in the Arua Violence of August 13 in which his driver Yasin Kawuma was shot by suspect soldiers of the president’s elite Special Forces Command (SFC).
The treason charges relate to the stoning of President Yoweri Museveni’s car and an attack on his motorcade.
