State House Blasts British MP Paul Williams Over Museveni Exit Calls: First Tell the Queen to Retire
Don Wanyama Tells Paul Williams: Ugandans Know What's Best for Them
Don Wanyama, a press secretary to Yoweri Museveni, has taken on British MP Paul Williams for calling on his government to end to Uganda’s three-decade president’s rule.
Dr Paul Williams, the Stockton South MP in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament, spoke ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (Chogm) happening in London this week.
“Will the government use CHOGM to give a message to Uganda’s President Museveni that after 32 years in power he’s become a barrier to his country’s development and that good governance includes leaving office?” said Paul Williams.

Paul Williams later tweeted: “Today I urged the International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt to use the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) to tell Uganda’s President Museveni that it’s time to go.”
“President Museveni has become a barrier to Uganda’s development.”
To this, Don Wanyama replied: “This UK MP still possesses a colonial mentality where he thinks Western metropolis should determine what happens in Africa.”
Wanyama then told Williamsto “show Ugandans some respect” because “We know what’s best for us.”
He also asked Williams: “Have you stopped to ask how long the Queen has been on the throne?”
