Rukungiri Donations: Museveni Donated Tax Payers’ Money to 20 Ghost Groups
State House: Some of Museveni Rukungiri Donations went to Fictitious Groups
State House has discovered that at least 20 groups that three-decade president Yoweri Museveni recently donated money are non-existent or ghost groups.
Museveni donated cash and material items to over 100 youth, women and elderly groups in Rukungiri on Sunday, April 15.
MUSEVENI DONATED TO 20 NON-EXISTENT RUKUNGIRI GROUPS
But State House comptroller Lucy Nakyobe went to Rukungiri to verify the groups’ existence on Thursday April 19.
Nakyobe was shocked to learn that at least 20 of these groups were fictitious.
“I want to assure you there is nobody who will take anything that does not belong to him,” said Nakyobe.
“This is not a mere donation; the President wants to take people out of poverty, so, we cannot allow thieving.”
Some are already fighting to share the money.
These include Rukungiri municipality Fruit Vendors Association who had fought over a Shs 30m donation.
