Uganda Police has confirmed investigating Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke over the murder of former Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga and his brother, Saidi Kongo.

During Abiriga’s burial ceremony on Monday,  Usuk county MP Peter Ogwang (NRM) asked President Yoweri Museveni and security agencies to force MPs who threatened pro-age limit removal MPs, to record statements.

And now, according to police, MP Nambooze is being probed over social media posts that the force says are “offensive”.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, police spokesperson Emilian Kayima, said four enquiry files had been opened up at the CID headquarters.

Kayima did not name the suspects, save for Nambooze.

But The Pearl Times has previously reported that the force was also investigating a one Jane Kuli for ‘predicting’ the death of Abiriga.

In her May 24 Facebook post, Kuli had written: “Abiriga will die in the first week of June.”
