ARTISTES DAVID MUGEMA AND JONAH MUWANGUZI CLEARED OF ‘DISTURBING MUSEVENI PEACE’ CHARGES
Mugema and Muwanguzi had appeared at Buganda Road Court for hearing of their case.
Police arrested the duo in In December 2017 in the heat of the age limit debate.
In their song titled ‘[Museveni] Wumula’, producer Jonah Muwanguzi and musician David Mugema tell three-decade president Museveni to retire.
Prosecution had alleged that the song disturbed Museveni’s peace by wilfully composing, recording, producing and electronically circulating the song through social media.
But months later, prosecution has failed to gather enough evidence to continue with the case.
The DPP has since written to court to withdraw the charges.
This is the second case the DPP is withdrawing in just one week.
