Museveni Eulogizes Winnie Mandela
Uganda’s president Yoweri Museveni had eulogized fallen South African freedom fighter and former first lady Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.
Winnie Madikizela-Mandela “succumbed peacefully in the early hours of Monday afternoon surrounded by her family and loved ones”, said family spokesman Victor Dlamini.
Winnie Madikizela-Mandela died aged 81.
Born in 1936 in the Eastern Cape (then called Transkei), Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was a social worker.
She married Nelson Mandela in the 1950s.
The couple was blessed with two daughters.
Winnie divorced Mandela in 1996, after she left prison in 1990.
She was also convicted of fraud in 2003.

“Very sorry to hear about the death of comrade Winnie Mandela,” wrote Museveni.
“I salute her contribution to the resistance in South Africa, especially during the time Mzee Mandela was in prison.”
Museveni’s condolence message adds to others delivered by several leaders across the world.
