Museveni: Abiriga Murder Exposes Risk of Supporting NRM
Museveni: NRM Enemies Could Have Killed Abiriga
Uganda’s three-decade president Yoweri Museveni has said that the murder of MP Ibrahim Abiriga, a loyal member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), could expose the how risk it is to support his party.
Abiriga was assassinated at 6:45pm on Friday by yet-to-be-identified assailants.
He was referred to a “yellow man” for donning yellow clothes in support of the NRM.
President Museveni visited the family of the late Abiriga in Kiwanda, Wakiso District on Saturday morning.
“We shall bring these criminals to book,” Museveni told mourners.
Museveni then noted that if Abiriga was killed for supporting NRM, the killing could show how risky it is to support his party.
“Hon Abiriga was an ardent supporter of the NRM party,” noted Museveni.
“If it is the enemies of the NRM who have done this, it will expose the risk of fighting the NRM.”
