Kitgum Leaders Rename John F Kennedy Airfield to His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni International Airport
Leaders in Kitgum district have passed a resolution to rename John F Kennedy Airfield to His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni International Airport as a ‘reward’ for “the good work” and for “restoring peace”.
Orom Sub-County councillor Quirino Olum moved a motion in the Kitgum council to the effect that the airfield be renamed after Museveni.
“President Museveni restored peace and stability and he should be rewarded for the good work done,” said Olum.
Museveni has ruled Uganda for over three decades.
The airfield has existed since 1971.
For years, it has been known by the name John F Kennedy Airfield.
John F Kennedy is a former US president.
