Judiciary Clears Air on Age Limit Petition Final Ruling Reports
Constitutional Court Yet to Deliver Age Limit Petition Ruling
The age limit petition challenges the removal of the presidential age limit clause to allow those aged 75 and above to stand for president.
Last December majority of the MPs voted to remove the age limit.
President Yoweri Museveni — seen as the direct beneficiary as he seeks to extend his three-decade rule — signed the bill into law days later.
Last month, deputy chief justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo led the age limit petition hearing in the eastern Uganda town of Mbale.
Reports had been circulating to the effect that the verdict had been delivered.
But a statement by the judiciary reminded members of the public, court would inform them on the date and time of the delivery of the verdict.
