Again! Pastor Kakande Threatens to Evict 300 Residents from Mpigi Land
Residents Deny Being Compensated by Kakande
Controversial pastor and self-styled prophet Samuel Kakande of the Synagogue Church of all Nations is once again being accused of attempting to evict residents and grab their land.
Recently, the lands ministry cancelled pastor Kakande’s illegal titles in a wrangle in which the powerful pastor sought to evict 10,000 people living in 56 villages.
And now in Mpigi, Kakande has threatened to evict 300 residents in Kamaliba village.
The ‘pastor’ wants the residents to get off some 24 acres of land.
Through their MP John Bosco Sseguya Lubyayi, the residents want parliament to intervene in their matter.
It all started when National Environment Management Authority (Nema) issued a permit to Kakande’s Aqua World Uganda Limited to start fish farming and sand mining in the area in 2014.
Kakande is said to have compensated the residents and reportedly had their gardens razed down with the help of the army.
Other sources claim the residents were compensated but re-occupied the land because the pastor’s company had taken long to use it.
