Abiriga Shooting: Cartridges Recovered from Scene of Crime; It’s Not Clear if Abiriga Had a Gun
Police Yet to Identify if Abiriga and Kongo Had Weapons by Time of Shooting
Uganda Police and other security agencies have recovered cartridges of the rifle used in the shooting of Arua Municipality MP and his brother Said Kongo.
Abiriga was assassinated at 6:45pm on Friday by yet-to-be-identified assailants.
According to a statement issued by police, “a couple of cartridges for an SMG assault rifle popularly known as AK47 were recovered from the scene of crime”.
But police could not readily verify if Abiriga or Kongo had a gun by the time of their shooting in Kawanda.
“We are yet to establish whether the Hon MP and identified person SAID KONGO had weapons with them,” said police publicist Emilian Kayima in a statement.
