Susan Magara Murder Probe: Makindye and Mwanga II Grade One magistrates have charged 10 people with obtaining and registering simcards by false pretence as well as unlawfully using another person’s identity.

The suspects are:

  1. Shakira Babirye
  2. Vicent Muwanguzi
  3. Racheal Nansubuga
  4. Ruth Nakafeero
  5. Ronald Lameka Kato
  6. Mary Namugerwa
  7. Sandra Namakula
  8. Edrine Tamale
  9. Mike Lubyayi
  10. Shamira Babirye

The 10 suspects illegally registered simcards using other Ugandans’ National Identity Cards.

The same simcards, prosecution alleges, were later used by criminals who murdered accountant Susan Magara after three weeks of torture.

Some of the simcards were registered in the names of John Paul Kawooya , Uzaifa Kawooya, Rose Batwaala, Annet Kemigisha, Africana Turyamuboona and Emmanuel Lugoloobi.

The suspects worked as telecom agents in Kabalagala, Ganda, Ndikutamada, Katwe Market, Old Taxi park, Nateete, Shoprite Supermarket and on Luwum street.

Shakira Babirye, Vicent Muwanguzi, Racheal Nansubuga, Ruth Nakafeero and Ronald Lameka Kato appeared before Makindye Grade One magistrate Sarah Namusobya.

On the other hand, Mary Namugerwa, Sandra Namakula, Edrine Tamale, Mike Lubyayi and Shamira Babirye  appeared before Mwanga II grade one Magistrate Julius Mwesigye.

They were remanded  to Luzira until May  28, 2018.
